(Higher Perspective) The Agriculture Ministry of Italy has decided that enough is enough and are looking to ban Monsanto’s genetically modified crops from their nation. With 80% of Italian citizens in complete support of this ban, Italy’s government doesn’t feel like it has all that much to lose.

The continued bias against raw milk by the FDA and CDC
The joint FDA /CDC reminder claims that between 1998 and 2005, raw milk was implicated in 45 outbreaks, 1007 cases, 104 hospitalizations and 2 deaths. Yet the reference cited, the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report for the week of March 2, 2006 (MMWR for 03-02-07), provides no such information; nor is any such information found in any other FDA or CDC document. Numerous requests to the FDA for clarification have not been answered.

From Dave Matthews to Danny DeVito: Stars Show Why GMO Labeling is a No-Brainer in This Hilarious Video
The “Right to Know” whether our food is genetically modified is something that’s not afforded to us in America, despite the fact that labels on foods containing GMOs are mandated in 60+ countries around the world.
And while companies have begun voluntarily labeling them, there is much concern over whether they’re telling the truth (as this recent fiasco involving a popular tortilla chip company showed).
This November, voters in two key states, Colorado and Oregon, will decide whether or not to label GMOs in landmark votes.
Both campaigns are being badly outspent due to huge donations from Monsanto and Big Food, but Colorado in particular is getting hammered, with over $11 million spent to hide information from consumers about whether or not there are GMOs in their food so far, compared with just $441,000 on the pro-labeling side.

Approved by the USDA -- Common additive in organic food triggers significant inflammation and cancer
Found in a wide variety of organic products, from almond and hemp milk to cottage cheese and yogurt, carrageenan is an familiar ingredient. Unfortunately, many are unaware that it can wreak havoc on the intestinal tract and cause inflammation of the gut -- aggravating conditions such as IBS, Chron's disease and ulcerative colitis. Carrageenan is also implicated in tumors and lesions of the intestine along with other inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and arteriosclerosis.
Lobbyists for the additive proclaim 'food grade' carrageenan is completely safe, the only culprit is degraded carrageenan. What proponents fail to address is the likely conversion of food grade carrageenan into the degraded form during digestion. Scientists have suspected this to be the case since the 1980s. Read more »
