Lifesaving Elixir From Poison? Discover the Exceptional Healing Benefit of Oleander Extract

In the late 1960s, a Turkish physician by the name of H. Zima Ozel discovered an ancient natural remedy which encourages remarkable healing and longevity in those who use it. Often referred to as "the Desert Rose," oleander is astonishingly effective in treating cancer, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis-C, asthma, epilepsy and paralysis. The extract has even had success in cancer patients classified as 'terminal' by conventional medicine. Although exceptionally beneficial in treating a range of serious disease, bear in mind oleander is highly poisonous if not handled properly and should be used with extreme caution.

History and benefits

First referenced in 15th century B.C. texts, Mesopotamians noted the outstanding therapeutic qualities of oleander extract. Native to the Western Himalayas, oleander was also used by the ancient Romans, Greeks and Arabs for it's medicinal attributes.

Two plant species fall under the classification of oleander, Nerium oleander and Thevetia peruviana. Both contain cardiac glycosides which are extremely toxic when handled or consumed in its raw state, yet, when correctly prepared, can be highly useful in the treatment of disease.

Modern studies have shown the extract to be remarkably potent. According to Dr. Edward R. Group III in "The Health Risks & Benefits of the Oleander Plant":

" . . . no single chemical component of the extract can be stated as the sole source of its health benefits, the powerful activity of the plant comes from a highly complex amalgamation of components held within the combined form of the extract. These components work synergistically to boost and stimulate the human immune system, offering support for a wide variety of health concerns."

Dr. Group continues:

"The government of South Africa is currently endorsing the use of oleander extract as a treatment for HIV. Similarly, many universities and institutions in the country are following suit, using the extract for the support of cancer patients."

In 2011, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) concluded the first trial phase of oleander extract and found it to be safe for use in the treatment of cancer. Bladder, colorectal, breast, pancreatic and appendecal cancers responded favorably to the extract with very little adverse reaction or cariotoxicity. Since the second phase of testing has yet to occur, a pharmaceutical drug based on oleander is currently unavailable for general use. Be that as it may, oleander supplements are accessible as well as a recipe based on the original formulation by Dr. Ozel. Further information can be found here. However, before using oleander products, it's extremely important to heed Dr. Group's warning regarding toxicity:

"While oleander may possess many healing properties, much like many powerful botanical remedies, this plant can also be deadly when taken or prepared incorrectly. This plant should never be eaten raw, as its raw extract form is highly toxic. One raw leaf has enough poison in it to kill a small child, as well as any pet. . . . There have been many cases of poisoning and death due to intake of oleander, oleander leaf tea, and its extracts. Even eating honey made from the nectar of the plant can produce dangerous effects."

  1. Good article! As the author of a book and many articles about oleander, as well as the owner of a Yahoo group of well over 3,000 people centered around medicinal oleander, I can attest to it having outstanding immune-boosting and cancer-fighting properties. I will note that I am not aware of the Thevetia peruviana variety of oleander being used medicinally - though I am aware of people warning against it. Fortunately, T. peruviana is easily distinguished from Nerium oleander in that it comes only with yellow flowers and its seed pods are football shaped, while N. oleander, which is much, much more prevalent than t. peruviana, comes in a variety of colors, including yellow, and always has elongated bean-like seed pods. - Tony Isaacs

  3. Thanks for the welcome. As the saying goes, I literally wrote the book on oleander ("Cancer's Natural Enemy - http://www.rose-laurel.com). The name of my yahoo group is "oleandersoup". I am also the local moderator of the CureZone cancer alternatives forum as well as have a private forum there (Ask Tony Isaacs Featuring Luella May). You can find my entire series of articles about oleander at my website on the articles directory (http://www.tbyil.com/articles.htm) as well as the page of articles about cancer (http://www.tbyil.com/Cancer_Alternatives.htm). Also, please feel free to use any article I have ever written however you see fit (so long as proper credit is given).
